John Alite; Former Mobster testified/Gotti Trial

John Alite’s story is truly unique. It is an inside look at the treacherous, double-dealing and corrupt world of the American Mafia in the 21st century. You want honor and loyalty, watch The Godfather. You want reality, talk to John Alite.

Over the course of a twenty-five-year career as a gangster he brutalized people, stabbing them, shooting them, beating them with clubs, blackjacks and baseball bats. He’s not proud of that, but he doesn’t try to hide from it either. It’s who he was.

Over the course of a twenty-five-year career as a gangster he brutalized people, stabbing them, shooting them, beating them with clubs, blackjacks and baseball bats. He’s not proud of that, but he doesn’t try to hide from it either. It’s who he was.

But it’s not who he is.  At least that’s his position today as he tries to put his life back together, a former mob associate and hitman trying to live a normal life, trying to figure out how he got off track and trying to get back on.

“Sometimes I wonder what happened,” he says.  A lot of people do.  The simple answer is that he did what he did to make money, to live well and to enhance his position in the Gambino crime family. He did most of it, he says, on the orders of John Gotti Jr. and sometimes on the orders of John Gotti Sr. Two federal court juries in New York heard him tell parts of his story. One came back with a conviction. The other couldn’t decide.

His decision to cooperate with the government and take the witness stand was a seminal event in his life, a choice that he believes has gotten him back on course. Only time will tell. But the story behind what got him to the witness stand is a fascinating look at the American underworld, a story told from street-level of one man’s descent into a world of money, murder and betrayal. It may also be a story of redemption, but that’s a question that can’t be answered at this point.

John Alite has decided to tell that story. A book about his life – GOTTI’S RULES, A Story of Money, Murder and Betrayal – written by journalist George Anastasia and released by HarperCollins in 2015. He hopes the book will be a springboard to other opportunities to tell the story in other mediums.

The backdrop is the Gotti family and the American Mafia.  More accurately, the Gotti family and the demise of the American Mafia. No one individual has had more to do with the once secret society coming apart at the seams than the Dapper Don, John Gotti Sr.

Gotti was a mob boss who loved the spotlight, a celebrity gangster who thumbed his nose at the conventional wisdom of the old time wiseguys. The idea was to make money, not headlines, they would say. Gotti thought he could do both. For a long time he did.

And his son John A. “Junior” Gotti embodies the me-generation of the mob, a precocious kid whose sense of entitlement was his undoing. In many ways he was the George W. Bush of the underworld, rising to the top not on the basis of what he had done, but on the coattails of his father and the magic of the family name. Bush didn’t have a clue. Worse, he didn’t seem to care. It was all about the status and the power and the office. Junior was the same way. He liked the idea of being a gangster, but never really understood how it worked.

Alite, the grandson of Albanian immigrants, could never become a “made” member of the Gambino crime family. But he rose to the top of the organization, moving within its inner circle of power. The status, the money and the influence were part of the seduction. They were too much for a kid who had grown up poor on the gritty streets of Woodhaven, Queens. His father was a cab driver and degenerate gambler. His mother was a secretary. The family of six – he has a brother and two sisters – lived in a four-room apartment with relatives living upstairs, downstairs and across the street.

He had nothing growing up. Yet  through his drug dealing, gambling and loansharking operations, Alite became a millionaire. How he lost the money and regained his own self-respect is part of his story. So too are his three years on the run. In 2003, after learning he had been targeted for death by the crime family he had served, he took off. His trip took him to twenty different countries in Europe and South America. He finally settled in Brazil, living the good life on the beaches of Copacabana until an Interpol arrest warrant ended the sojourn. He spent more than two years in two of Brazil’s worst prisons, a descent into hell that has left physical and emotional scars that he continues to deal with today.

Now he is back home. Rejecting an offer for life in the Witness Security Program, John Alite has decided to live his life on his own terms. “Those who know me know why I did what I did,” he said of his decision to cooperate and testify. “Those who don’t should mind their own business.”

John Alite’s story is unique. It is an inside look at the treacherous, double-dealing and corrupt world of the American Mafia in the 21st century. You want honor and loyalty, watch The Godfather. You want reality, talk to John Alite.

Out of fairness, it is important to point out that not everyone believes in Mr. Alite’s alleged transformation. Some believe it is impossible for a person to change that much. Some point at, what they consider, inconsistencies in his testimony during trial and in his book. Some accuse him of miss-representing the entire Mafia Family lifestyle, what they represent, how they have, in the past and currently operate and the integrity, brotherhood and quality of the relationships that exist.

Theresa Racine of XtremeMeasures.com believes he has changed and that he is the perfect man to reach inner city kids who engage in unsavory behaviors and who are headed down the wrong path. Together, Ms. Racine and Mr. Alite want to end Bullying across America. See the story below…

Former mob hit man John Alite was scheduled to talk to Queens schoolkids about bullying.

Apparently, some people think it’s a bad idea to invite a convicted serial killer to mentor schoolkids. Xtrememeasure.com founder Theresa Racine is livid that her attempts to bring former mob hit man John Alite to lecture grade schoolers on the dangers of bullying is being met with stiff opposition.

According to Racine, Alite was recently slated to be her special guest at an after-school event at a grade school in the Rockaways until “threatening” letters convinced her to host her workshop without the Queens-bred tough guy.

“We all know John had a horrible life, but he’s different now,” she tells Confidenti@l. Racine argues that it’s the former Mafia button man who’s being “bullied” now as he tries to turn over a new leaf.

In 2008, Alite — a former assassin for the Gambino crime family — pleaded guilty to two murders and four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, then served six years in prison after agreeing to testify against the mob. He’d initially confessed to 15 murders.

According to Racine, people involved in Alite’s “former life” are trying to stop him from using his experiences to help kids. Alite opponents have launched a website called johnalitefacts.com to detour people from working with the 53-year-old ex-con.

But according to Racine, Alite’s checkered past is what qualifies him to warn kids about violence.

“When a guy with a suit and tie comes in talking to kids about bullying, they look at them and say, ‘Yeah, OK,’ ” she says.

Racine, who also conducts workshops that combat domestic abuse and human trafficking through the state, has already conducted one anti-bullying workshop at the Rockaway grade school, which she asked us not to name for fear of distracting students.

Though Alite missed that session, we’re told that an old associate of his identified only as “Mike” showed up to tell the two dozen attendees that they should give Alite a second chance.

Racine also told us that three “rough”-looking men who refused to sign in showed up, sized up the security team, and made other plans for the evening.

This will be an exciting, interesting and provocative show. It is also sure to be very enlightening. How often do you get to pick the brain of a former Mafia Hit Man? How often do you get to talk to the man who testified in the Gotti Trial?

On this show, we will examine Human Nature; what drives us to do unthinkable things and then what brings our humanity back. We ask the important questions “Can people, who many would call evil, change so much, that they become positive inspiration for our kids?” “Should Mr. Alite be given access to our kids?” “If so, should we be supporting Mr. Alite?” “If so… how?” And “Are we willing to commit to supporting Mr. Alite and Ms. Racine in their efforts?”

  1. Albanian Traitor Says:

Dale, appreciate your service. Alite is clearly obsessed with thee Gotti’s. When asked about him being a changed man, he had a hard time answering the question. He should not be around individuals at risk period.

  2. Theresa Racine Says:

You see How they change the story so sad. Its ok I am not done that John alite facts is going to be exsposed. And we will find out who sent that letter. Thank You For your Kind words Dale. At the end

  3. Theresa Racine Says:

    Thank You .

  4. Theresa Racine Says:

Listening to It again Hilarious. Chris Needs help

  5. DSource4U Says:

Albanian Traitor: Thank you, so much. Now that we have had the show and have done our best to make sure it was a non-biased show; I do have some opinions to share.

    1. Out of fairness, I think both Mr. Alite and the Gotti’s have a large preoccupation with each other. The preoccupation is definitely 2 sided.

    2. Over the years, I have become aware that multiple people can hear the same words, but their perception of what was said can differ, based on what they want to hear. My perception of what I heard Mr. Alite say was that he is on a journey. He is trying to be a better person, but he is struggling. He said that he is finding it difficult to rid himself of feelings and behaviors that he’s had for so many years. This is a summary, based on several of his statements and answers. Again, you may have heard something different, from your perspective.

3.As far as him being around people at risk… I always try to look at things objectively and I see two very distinct possibilities. The first, is that Mr. Alite is scamming us all, as you and others believe. The second is that he really is trying to be a different person and trying to make amends for some of the bad things he has done, by making a positive difference in the lives of our youth.

Either way, no scam or facade has ever withstood the test of time. Rather it’s God’s law that you will, eventually, reap what you sow or Karma or that what goes around, will always come back around; sooner or later, the truth comes to light. Now, if this is a scam… In order to keep it going, Mr. Alite will have to do right. Mr. Alite isn’t spending time alone with kids; but conducting public speeches, participating in workshops, etc. The day he says the wrong thing; the gig will be up. In the mean time, a lot of children will benefit, as long as he continues to say the right thing. And the longer he keeps doing and saying the right things, the less likely it will become that he is scamming us all. And if he does right until he dies, we will have to except the evidence that we have seen and concede that he did change and that he had a positive impact on a lot of lives. But the day he screws up, he will immediately be ushered out of the room and you and all who warned everyone, will be vindicated and he will never be allowed to Mentor, again. But, until that day, he will have to keep up the act and kids will benefit. Personally, I see no harm in that.

I believe people can change. I’ve changed, myself… This turned out to be a great show, in my opinion. We began with Mr. Alite’s childhood and examined how he grew up in an area that was conducive to him joining the Mafia and he explained what the attraction and allure was. We got an inside look into the Mafia and he explained how different it is from what we see on TV (From his perspective). He explained what it was like to beat people with Baseball Bats, to shoot people and to kill people, on a regular. He explained what his mindset was and told us that the mindset he grew up with is the same mindset that many of our children who end up in gangs grow up with and that’s why he can relate to them and why they listen to him. He is currently working to stop Domestic Violence, with a Foundation to raise money to help others, he is mentoring kids to help end bullying and writing a second book that offers insight into the psychology of those who become violent criminals.

Look…. After listening to him and Theresa, who I know has been doing positive work for years and who has met and worked with him, in person, tell us how successful their work has been; I am all for the positive work he is currently doing, as long as it remains positive and the results are positive, as well. If what he is doing is making a positive difference; then who am I to be against him? Rather he is running a scam on us all; only God knows…. But I trust in God, that the truth will come to light, in due time. For now; keep doing what you are doing Mr. Alite!

To the Gotti’s and others who disagree… I have not discounted your arguments. I simply believe that taking advantage of any good that we can get out of a man, simply makes sense. The moment and even the second that good turns to bad; the gig will be up and you will all have an opportunity to say “See, I told you so…” You have court cases coming up that will serve to vindicate you, as well. So, we will continue to follow the story and see what time will show…

Thank you all for your participation and we hope you will all become members of ‘The Movement’, by making our blog a place you continue to visit and interact with and express yourselves on and by doing whatever little bit you can do, no matter how small, to positively impact the lives of others.
